Esther Lamneck

Esther Lamneck is a clarinetist and performer of the tárogató, a single-reed Hungarian woodwind instrument.

Lamneck is dedicated to expanding the traditional boundaries of music to create new art forms based on elements of jazz, folk and contemporary music. She has performed at music festivals and concerts throughout the world, including Boston, Los Angeles, Paris, New York City, Rome, Salzburg, and Mexico City. She has performed as chamber musician with the Virtuosi Wind Quintet, New American Trio, Saturn, and Contrasts Trio and as a orchstral soloist with Pierre Boulez and Isaac Stern. She has appeared widely on television and radio and has premiered works for tárogató by Larry Austin and Robert Rowe. Awards include the Julliard School of Music's Naumburg Scholarship and the Pro Musicis Award.

Lamneck lives in New York and travels widely. She is director of Instrumental Studies in the Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions at New York University, artistic director of the NYU New Music and Dance Ensemble, and director of the NYU Music and Dance Program in Pisa, Italy.
