![]() Cyprian Li"Music is an arrangement of sounds in time. There should be no rule and no restriction on what sounds are used and how they are arranged. Good music should satisfy the composer and move people in some unique way." Cyprian Li was born and educated in Hong Kong. Since retiring in 1992 from teaching physics and chemistry, he has become a digital artist and electronic music composer. Without formal music training, he has been experimenting with electronic music, driven by his passion for music and guided by a keen sense of hearing. His music is basically experimental. He employs a wide variety of material, including synthesizer sounds and algorithmic and signal-processing software, and relies on instantaneous inspiration, rather than careful planning, to produce his very unusual, original music. His music was played in the Grand Opening of 'Pulse Field,' an international exhibition of sound art in January, 2003, at Georgia State University, USA, in the Zeppelin 2004 festival in Spain, in Electrolune 2004, France, and in 'The Money Project,' 2002, in Sweden. He currently lives in Hong Kong and spends much of his time making music, while attempting to produce video with the music and abstract images he has created. |
