Philip Mantione

"I use random processes and situational forms in my music. In several pieces, a sort of equal form is used, where sections of equal length, homogeneous in timbre or rhythmic content, are placed adjacent in time, one section abruptly interrupting the next. Other forms are dictated by the events in field recordings as in fourteen and motel. "

Mantione has written music for multi-media performance, experimental video, computer interactive projects, sound installations, as well as compositions for orchestra and chamber ensembles. His work has been presented in the Medi@terra Festival 2001, European Media Arts Festival, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin 2001/2005, and Art in General.

Mantione currently lives in upstate New York and travels widely for presentations of his work.
