Phil Dadson
S3D (ear & eye)

Co-produced by Phil Dadson and Wayne Laird of Atoll CDs, S3D (ear & eye) is a 2-hour DVD and 80-minute CD distilled from three days of improvisation by twelve experimental instrument builders at the 2007 Auckland Festival in New Zealand.

The sounds are from invented and unusual instruments, among them the Zitherum (a 3-meter-long zither/drum combination), the Gloopdrum (a single string and drum-membrane resonator), the Nundrum (a modified bass-drum resonator with multiple threaded rods), song/stones, overtone-vocals, and a headrush pedal. The titles are Gloop, Obliquely, Ecliptic, Laced Cool, Waipiro, To a Circular Mirror, and Airborne. The inventors/performers are Akio Suzuki (Japan), Bart Hopkin, Yet Koo, and Tim Nunn (USA), Walter Kitundu (Tansania/USA), Graeme Leak & Ernie Althoff (Australia), Marcel Bear, Sam Morrison, James McCarthy, Adam Willetts, and Phil Dadson (New Zealand).
