Allen Strange

Allen Strange, composer, performer, author, and educator, was best known for his work in live electronic music performance and for his book 'Electronic Music: Systems, Techniques, and Controls', first published in 1972, still in print and widely used as a reference today.

Strange composed chamber and solo works, choral, opera and various combinations of multimedia. His music has been performed at various international venues such as the International Computer Music Association conferences, SEAMUS, and other festivals throughout Europe, Japan, South America, Korea, and Canada. He served as president of the International Computer Music Association from 1994 to 1997.

In 2002, he retired as Professor Emeritus of Composition from San Jose State University to live on Bainbridge Island in Washington's Puget Sound and focus on composing music.
