Focusing on the interface between acoustic and electronic music, SynC — aka Michael Atherton (ancient and contemporary acoustic instruments) and Garth Paine (electronics) — is an experimental ensemble for acoustic instruments and live electronics.

The acoustic instruments, including oud, hurdy-gurdy, gongs, marimba, and percussion, provide the sonic foundation for complex live electronic processes that generate a vast array of timbral environments, responsive to the acoustic input, but simultaneously independent. You hear the human gestures, you imagine the motions in the performance, and the sounds are stunning, dramatic, lyrical, sometimes full of physical energy, sometimes quieter, but always intresting.

The compositions are '33degrees50minutes South', 'Al Anbiq Dialogue', 'Encounter', 'Aletryomancy', and 'Eclipse'. SynC is Michael Atherton (ancient and contemporary acoustic instruments) and Garth Paine (electronics).
