The Revolutionary Ensemble
> Beyond the Boundary of Time

Leroy Jenkins (violin), Sirone (bass), and Jerome Cooper (drums, balaphone, chiramia, Yamaha PSR 1500), playing together as The Revolutionary Ensemble, introduced a new sound to improvisation in New York in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Then, after many years of working at other projects, The Revolutionary Ensemble came together again. This CD, the recording of a concert on May 25, 2005, in Warsaw, Poland, documents their last live performance together.

Beyond the Boundary of Time includes an individual composition by each of the musicians — Configuration by Sirone, Usami by Leroy Jenkins, and Le-Si-Jer by Jerome Cooper — as well as two group improvisations. They all brought new musical ideas to the group and together developed new ways of thinking about sound, space, momentum, dynamics, and relationships.
