John Luther Adams is a composer, environmentalist, percussionist, writer, and radio producer. His music, which includes compositions for orchestra, chamber ensembles, radio, film, television, and theater, has always been profoundly influenced by the natural world and a strong sense of place. His awards include the National Endowment for the Arts, Rockefeller Foundation, Opera America ... Clouds of Forgetting, Clouds of Unknowing was nominated for the 1999 Grammy Awards in the Best Classical Composition and Best Orchestral Performance categories. Based as faculty at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Adams currently lives in the boreal forest near Fairbanks, Alaska. He teaches at Oberlin College and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
