Saxophonist and composer Martin Archer combines improvised and composed acoustic and electronic sound. He began playing improvised music scene in the 1970s in Sheffield (UK), influenced by the Velvet Underground, Miles Davis, and The Soft Machine. Hearing Evan Parker and Anthony Braxton oriented him towards avant-garde improvisation. He has been a member of the bands Bass Tone Trap, Hornweb, Transient v Resident, and the duo Ask (with guitarist John Jasnoch). He is an active performer, recording artist, and composer.
