![]() Larry Austin "Exploring new concepts, new materials and their interaction is essential to my work as a composer ... " Prize-winning composer and author, Larry Austin has composed more than 70 works for electronics, in various combinations of tape, instruments, voices, orchestra, live-electronics and real-time computer processing, as well as solo audio and video. His music has been presented at major venues and festivals worldwide, including the New York Philharmonic, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He was the founding editor of Source Magazine, one of the most important documents of the 1960s. In the 1970s and 1980s, he formed experimental music centers at the University of South Florida and the University of North Texas. He served as president of the International Computer Music Association. In 1996, Austin was awarded the prestigious Magisterium prize in the 23rd International Electroacoustic Music Competition, Bourges, France, for his music and for his leadership in electronic music organizations during the past thirty years.
