Warren Burt is a composer and performer of electronic and acoustic music. Burt's compositional approaches have included random processes, artificial intelligence, improvisation, and interactive systems. He performs solo, with other musicians, and in collaboration with video artists, choreographers, scientists. His work has been supported by the Australia Council, Victorian Ministry for the Arts, McKnight Foundation ... He has performed at Ars Electronica, Sonic Circuits, and throughout New Zealand, Australia, the USA, Japan, Germany ... Burt has been resident at the Djerassi Artists Program, International Synergy, ABC Radio, American Composers Forum ... He is author of Writings from a Scarlet Aardvark, 15 Articles on Music and Art, 1981-93, and other critical works. He worked with Perceptual Systems in developing artistic applications for a 3-dimensional video sensing system and used it to create installations at the World's Fair in Brisbane in 1989. Burt recently founded the Centre for Studies in Experimental Music and Performance. Warren Burt is based in Australia, composing and writing, and he tours worldwide. Available CDs |
