His primary focus is on electronic instrument design and interactive performance contexts. Chadabe has performed with Jan Williams and other musicians at venues and festivals such as the Venice Biennale, Wellington Festival (New Zealand), Aarhus Festival (Denmark), De Isbreker (Amsterdam), New Music America, Inventionen (Berlin), Ars Electronica (Linz, Austria) ... He is the author of Electric Sound: The Past and Promise of Electronic Music. His articles have appeared in Computer Music Journal, Leonardo, Electronic Musician, and other journals, magazines, and anthologies. As president of Intelligent Music, he was responsible for the development and publication of M, Max, and other software ... He has received awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Fulbright Commission ...
