Composer, educator, and software designer, Karlheinz Essl's work centers around computer-aided composition strongly influenced by serial music. He also composes interactive music, often created with the MAX programming environment.
Essl's compositions have been performed by major ensembles throughout the world, including Klangforum, XASAX, Arditti String Quartet ... at Vienna's Wien Modern, Ars Musica (Brussels), Schoenberg Festival (Duisburg), Salzburg Festival ...
