![]() Reinhold Friedl "Music is praxis. Composing, interpretation, and improvisation are spontaneous activities, each inspiring the others. My work does not begin with philosophy or aesthetic theory. However, philosophical and aesthetic theories can offer inspiration for subsequent projects, provided they do not lead to me to lose sight of sensuality, the erotic, and the irrational." Pianist and composer, Reinhold Friedl's work explores new possibilities of acoustic instruments, both alone and with electronics. His music has been performed at This Piano Thing II (Podewil, Berlin), Donaueschinger Musiktage ... and on numerous European radio stations, including SR, SDR, SWF, SFB, DR Berlin, RAI, MDR ... Collaborators have included Elliott Sharp, Dieter Schnebel, Melvyn Poore, Paul Lovens, Keith Rowe, Mario Bertoncini, Dror Feiler, Phill Niblock, Witold Szalonek ... Friedl has won awards and honors from Eurocreation Paris, GMEM (Marseille), STEIM (Amsterdam), Berlin Senate for Cultural Affairs, Selk House (Schleswig-Holstein), Academy for the Arts (Berlin), Villa Serpentara (Rome) ... His writings have been published in Positionen Magazine for New Music, Die Tageszeitung, Stuttgarter Zeitung, Jazzthetik, Lettre International ...
