Composer, performer, improviser, sonic artist, and electronic instrument designer, David Gamper's pioneering algorithmic compositional work at Bell Labs in the late 1970s led to his recent work in interactive systems. He has directed development of the Expanded Instrument System (EIS) for the Pauline Oliveros Foundation.

Gamper has collaborated with Ellen Fullman, Thomas Buckner, Joe McPhee, Josa Jones Dance Company, film makers Vicky Funari and Jennifer Maytorena Taylor, choreographer Susan Marshall , Ione ... Performed at IJsbreker (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), Theatre les Bernardines (Marseille), Musik-Szene USA Upper-Underground (Frankfurt), Composer to Composer Festival (Telluride, Colorado), Knitting Factory (New York), Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Wet Ink Festival (San Francisco), Tokyo P/N Hall, Festival de Musica Visual (Lanzarote, Canary Islands) ... Worked at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Mills College, The Kitchen, The Candy Factory (Austin) ...

David Gamper plays with the Deep Listening Band and performs in solo concerts. He also collaborates with photographer Gisela Gamper in See Hear Now, a sound and video projection duo, and hilde+ed productions, a multi-media content development partnership.
