![]() Otto Laske "I never know whether I will like what I am producing, and it usually takes me some time to learn to appreciate what I have made. I passionately believe in possible musics, and have much less regard for existing ones, including my own." Otto Laske is a composer, philosopher, theorist, researcher, and cognitive musicologist. Laske's compositions and writings have received international attention since the 1970s. His music has been performed throughout the US and Europe. In 1980, he co-founded NEWCOMP (New England Computer Arts Association) and remained its Artistic Director until 1991. He has lived and taught in the US, Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Finland, and France. Otto Laske: Navigating New Musical Horizons, a book of critiques of his theoretical writings in cognitive musicology, was published in 1999. Laske currently lives and works in the Boston area.
