Joëlle Léandre, doublebass player extraordinaire, focuses on improvisation and contemporary music. As soloist, she has championed music by Cage and Scelsi. She has performed with contemporary music ensembles such as 2E2M, Itinéraire, l'Ensemble Intercontemporain ... With associates Rüdiger Carl and Carlos Zingaro, she co-founded The Canvas Trio. She has worked with Derek Bailey, Maggie Nicols, Lindsay Cooper, Irène Schweizer, Fred Frith, Evan Parker, Eric Watson, Lol Coxhill, Peter Kowald, William Parker, Barre Philips, Jon Rose, Paul Lovens ... She has been artist in residence at DAAD (Berlin) ...
Joëlle Léandre is based in Paris and travels extensively as performer.
