Composer, performer, conductor, interdisciplinary artist, and author, David Rosenboom's interests are remarkably diverse. They include the spontaneous evolution of forms, languages for improvisation, new techniques and notation for ensembles, cross-cultural collaborations, performance art, computer music systems, interactive multi-media, compositional algorithms, and the structure of the brain and nervous system.
He developed computer software with Donald Buchla, Larry Polansky, and Phil Burk. He has performed with Anthony Braxton. His books include Biofeedback and the Arts (1976), and Extended Musical Interface with the Human Nervous System (1990). His awards include National Endowment for the Arts, National Science Foundation, Canada Council, Mellon and Irvine Foundations, AT&T Foundation, Norton Family Foundation ... His essays have appeared in Leonardo, Musicworks, Computer Music Journal ... His music has been performed at Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Recital Hall, The Kitchen, 1750 Arch Concerts, Columbia University, Musik HochschŸle (Hamburg), Electric Circus, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, MusŽe des Beaux Arts (Montreal), Kunsthalle (Basel), IRCAM (Paris), Exploratorium (San Francisco) ...
