    Miriam Brickman has built a strong reputation as a pianist of unique vision. This CD features her fine playing woven into her innovative approach to performance that surrounds the music with vocal dramatizations, in the original languages, of the literary sources that inspired the composer's music. Links between related arts is a constant theme in her work. On this CD, Brickman performs works for piano, accompanied by recitations of related texts.

    The compositions include Charles Tomlinson Griffes' 'The White Peacock' (with the text, 'The White Peacock' by William Sharp); Erik Satie's 'Sports et Divertissements'; Gabriel Grovlez's 'Improvisation of London' (with the text 'Sunday Evening on the Thames Embankment', by William Ernest Henley); Ernest Bloch's 'Poems of the Sea' (with an excerpt of 'In Cabin'd Ships at Sea', by Walt Whitman); Claude Debussy's 'Prelude No. 4, Book 1' (with 'Evening Harmony' by Charles Baudelaire); Ronald Senator's 'Mobiles'; Vincent Persichetti's 'Three Poems for Piano' (with texts by Leonie Adams and John Trumbull); and Franz Liszt's 'Vallee d'Obermann', from 'Annees de Pelerinage' (with the text, 'Episode from Childe Harold' by Lord Byron).
