New music flutist extraordinaire Margaret Lancaster performs compositions created to showcase her talents. These include enjoyable and accessible works for flute-and-percussion and flute-and-electronics. The electronics feature MIDI-to-pitch converters that trigger fascinating sound samples in synch with her playing. The compositions include Paul Herman Reller's 'In Praise of Buddy Hackett' (1998) and 'Excerpt (from Salvation Army)' (1997); David W. Rogers' 'Once-A-Thon IV: They Taught Her How to Kill' (1998); Robert C. Constable, Jr.'s 'Once -A-Thon' (1998); and Eric Lyon's 'Heavy rotation' and 'Once-A-Thon II: The Kiss of Constable'. The performances are by Margaret Lancaster (flute), occasionally with the University of South Florida Percussion Ensemble, Robert McCormick, conductor.
